AI in Graphic Design Process - Design Development - Brand Identity

 Cosmobites - The Brand

Establishing a brand identity requires a delicate blend of creativity and strategy. For CosmoBites, the client's chosen way forward was to intertwine path of typography and minimalism. One of the first things I did was to use ChatGPT to brainstorm slogan ideas, until we have decided on a slogan 'Savour the Universe.' This was later expanded to "Savour the Universe, One Bite at a Time," a catchy and imaginative phrase that uses a space-related metaphor to communicate the fun and excitement of space exploration, resonating perfectly with the brand's adventurous and invigorating tone.


 

Venturing into the realm of colours, I experimented with ColorMagic, inputting prompts such as 'galaxy', 'nebula', and 'space', in hopes of crafting a celestial palette. The outcomes, however, often lacked the desired depth and nuance.

 



 

As a result, I gravitated towards a manually chosen blend of dark blue, white, and a hint of teal, ensuring a harmonious alignment with the brand's voice again.

 

In terms of typography, ChatGPT offered some generic initial suggestions, and tools like FontJoy and Monotype were explored,although the limited scope of their libraries necessitated a more personalised approach.



 

Further experimentation led me to Recraft text-to-SVG, for space-themed vector graphics. Although the tool offered some innovative perspectives on celestial imagery, certain conceptual visions, such as a 'planet with a bite taken out', didn't translate seamlessly.

 



The chosen sans-serif typeface Restore was then embellished with subtle space-themed elements, resulting in a distinctive and memorable logo.

 

The finishing touches involved experimenting with Illustrator's Generative Recolor feature, offering a spectrum of colour variations. This exploration ensured the final palette not only looked good on paper but resonated deeply with CosmoBites' identity.

Brainstorming The initial phase of brainstorming led me to ChatGPT. By feeding the AI the entire organized brief, it managed to produce some intriguing concepts, such as rocket launch and the planet infusion idea. While these served as an excellent foundation, the AI's capacity to switch rapidly between varied concepts - a critical facet of brainstorming - was found wanting.
