AI in Graphic Design Process - Presentation and Revision

 Human feedback

When diving deep into the world of AI-driven design, I've been amazed at the capabilities of machines. But as I had dabbled with AI-generated presentations and even simulated client feedback in previous step of this graphic design process, they had their limitations and it became clear that genuine human feedback was irreplaceable, especially when refining design concepts.

So, for this critical stage, I decided to go old school and I chose to gather direct feedback from real people that would into the imaginary company's target audience - millennials and Gen Z, aged between 18 and 35, of all genders - adventurous, open-minded, enjoy trying new experiences, and are health-conscious.

My first step was to craft a questionnaire. With the help of ChatGPT, I generated few initial drafts. After some tweaks and combination, I had a 10-question survey in hand. It was a mix of open-ended queries, rating scales, and multiple-choice questions, all designed to test the effectiveness of my designs.

Final questionnare:

  1. First Impressions:

    • When you first encountered the brand and its designs, what three words or phrases came to mind?
  2. Brand Identity:

    • Based on the brand's visual elements (like the logo, typefaces, and colors), can you describe the feelings or messages you perceive about the brand?
  3. Product Packaging:

    • How would you rate the visual appeal and functionality of the product packaging?
      • Excellent / Good / Average / Below Average / Poor
    • Do you have any suggestions for improvement?
  4. Advertisement Impressions:

    • After viewing the product packaging ad, are you more inclined to learn about or purchase the product? Why or why not?
  5. Digital Designs:

    • How engaging do you find the designs intended for social media platforms?
      • Very Engaging / Somewhat Engaging / Neutral / Somewhat Unengaging / Very Unengaging
  6. Magazine Layout:

    • Do the designs for the CosmoChronicles magazine effectively convey the brand's space theme and product quality? Please explain.
  7. Environmental Design:

    • When considering the designs for physical locations, like shelf talkers and banners, do they immerse you in a space-like environment?
  8. Poster Design:

    • How effective are the posters in promoting new products, offers, or events? What elements stand out?
  9. Website Experience:

    • How user-friendly and visually appealing do you find the website showcasing the products and brand?
    • Are there any specific areas for improvement?

  10. Overall Brand Cohesiveness:
    • Considering all the design elements, do they come together to create a unified brand identity?
    • Are there any inconsistencies or areas that stand out as not fitting with the overall brand?
Filled questionnares:

With my survey ready, I turned to a focus group of friends and colleagues, ensuring they fit within my brief's target demographics. Presenting them with the design concepts and the questionnaire, I eagerly awaited their feedback:

1.

2.

3.

With the valuable feedback in hand, I revisited the designs, making thorough adjustments and refinements. Following these revisions, I felt confident that my designs more accurately embodied the objectives set out in the brief.
