Nebula Bar Product Packaging Development

When it came to developing the packaging for Nebula Bars, I was on a mission to capture the wonders of the cosmos in a snack bar wrapper. However, a quick scan of the market revealed designs that lacked the sparkle and imagination of the great unknown. Determined to set CosmoBites apart, at this point I decided to test out Midjourney to craft some inspiration.

Having some inspiration in mind I began designing and incorporating the brand identity of CosmoBites was paramount. To avoid a flat, one-dimensional look, I sprinkled in some of Photoshop's magic of generative fill, introducing abstract black light trails to the packaging backdrop. These trails not only added depth and intrigue but also set the stage for the design's central elements.

 

The real challenge was finding the perfect illustration to sit front and center on the packaging. While Midjourney's AI-generated visuals provided a starting point, they needed a human touch to align perfectly with the brand's narrative.

 

 

To differentiate the diverse flavors without overwhelming the design, I used a color-coordinated star glow emanating from each fruit. This subtle touch, combined with a slight color tweak on the back of the label, allowed each flavor to stand out in its own right.

 
 
Having nailed the design, it was time to bring it to life with product photography. With high hopes, I tested AI-based digital photoshoot platforms, Flair and Pebblely. These platforms pledged to magically insert my product design into tailor-made photoshoots. But the reality was a far cry from the promise. From lighting mismatches to incongruities in theme, the AI-generated shoots fell short. And while these tools might shine for other products, they weren't a fit for the Nebula Bars' unique shape. Recognizing the importance of impeccable presentation, I opted for mock-ups to ensure the Nebula Bars were presented in all their galactic glory.

Brainstorming The initial phase of brainstorming led me to ChatGPT. By feeding the AI the entire organized brief, it managed to produce some intriguing concepts, such as rocket launch and the planet infusion idea.
